Today Boeing announced it has selected TRU Simulation + Training, a Textron Inc. company as the supplier for the first 777X full-flight simulator suites for Boeing’s pro forma campuses. Pro forma training is doffs red to customers as part of the airplane sale.
The 10-year deal strengthens Textron’s ties to Boeing and gives it s grip on full flight simulation for on the the planemaker’s long-haul aircraft, whose older models relied on CAE Inc and L-3 Communications Holdings, Textron’s competitors, for training.
Textron’s simulation and training division will produce a suite of equipment to to instruct pilots on flying and landing the aircraft in a range of situations, in time for the delivery date Boeing has set for the first 777X, 2020.
Textron’s executives did not disclose the monetary value of the contract.
This contract comes less than two years after Textron won a contract for full-flight simulator suites for the 737 MAX.
