Norwegian announces new Palma de Mallorca base

Norwegian announced this week that they will open a new base in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. The base will be the 7th Spanish base and their 16th in Europe.

The airline will also strengthen their presence in Spain by expanding their Spanish domestic route network with the addition of Palma de Mallorca-Madrid and Palma de Mallorca-Barcelona.

2 737-800s will be based on the island and the airline will be hiring more than 60 new cabin crew and pilots along with extra staff to support the new Spanish base. Other bases in Spain include Madrid, Barcelona, Alicante, Malaga, Las Palmas and Tenerife.

Currently Norwegian flies between Palma de Mallorca and Aalborg, Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Helsinki, London–Gatwick, Oslo, Stockholm, Bergen and Stavanger. Norwegian will increase the amount of flights between Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen,  Gothenburg and Palma de Mallorca starting in June.
