The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has certified three Norwegian B737-800s as ETOPS-180 compliant.
This certification will allow the LCC to begin using the jets on its planned Cork-Boston transatlantic routes which it planned to launch this month. The routes, though, were deferred because of delays in Norwegian Air International securing its US Foreign Air Carriers Permit (FACP).
The LCC will also open long-haul p, thin routes it has not yet been unable to serve.
Until now, all of Norwegian’s 100 B737-800s have been only certified for ETOPS-120 standards.
