Air China tools delivery of its maiden B787-9 (registration B-7877, msn 34305) on Friday, May 20. The aircraft, the first of the fifteen on order from Boeing, will be joined by six more frames within this year, with the remaining eight to be delivered through to 2018.
Air China has chosen to configure its 787s with 30 seats in Business class, 34 in Premium Ecoomy and 229 in Economy.
B-7877 is expected to make its first revenue flight on May 26 on the Beijing Capital – Chengdu flights, following which it will be used on services to Guangzhou and Shanghai Pudong.
The first long-haul operations to Frankfurt and Rome Fiumicino are expected to begin in July and August respectively.
