United launches San Francisco – Singapore flights 

On June 1st, United Airlines has launched the world’s longest scheduled flight operated by a Boeing 787 as United flight UA1 took off from the airline’s hub in San Francisco Singapore-bound.

The new route is also the longest scheduled flight operated by a US carrier ar 8,446 miles (13,590 kilometers) and is also one of the longest flights in the world.

The new service is the only direct service between the United States and Singapore, as Singapore Airlines has cancelled its direct flights to Los Angeles and New York Newark almost three years ago.

Singapore Airlines is expected to resume direct services to the US in 2019, as it starts to take delivery of its first A350-900ULRs, the Ultra-Long-Range variant of the A350-900.
