The Iranian flag carrier, Iran Air, has been removed from the EU blacklist which it has been on for the last 10 years. This opens up very many possibilities for Iran Air in Europe in the near future, like opening new routes.

After an investigation done at the airline, the EU is happy with the technical and safety standards of the airline.

The airline is however still not allowed to use their Fokker jets and the Boeing 747s. The A320s, A300s, A310s and Md-80 jets have unrestricted access to fly between Iran and Europe and will be flying the routes until the airline eventually replaces them with newer jets.
