Iran Air inks Memorandum of Understanding with Boeing

Iran Air says it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Boeing over the purchase of an undisclosed number of narrow- and wide-body aircraft.

In a statement, the carrier said the MOU involves orders for B737s and B777-300(ER) jets. The finalization of the order, though, is subject to the approval of the US and Iran governments.

Earlier this year, Iran Air signed a commitment for 118 aircraft with Airbus I dusters and one for up to 40 aircraft with Avions de Transport Régional. Despite early optimism, the finalization of these two orders has been bogged down as some of the suppliers for both manufacturers are based in the USA.
