Saudi Arabian Airlines has taken delivery of the world’s first A330-300Regional following the arrival of HZ-AQ11 (cn 1724) in Jeddah on Thursday, August 18.
The aircraft is one of the twenty Saudia will lease from the International Airfinance Corporation (IAFC) with deliveries sourced directly from Airbus.
Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser Director General Saudi Arabian Airlines, said: “We are excited to welcome the first A330-300 Regional to our fast expanding Airbus fleet. It is a step forward in recognising our commitment to a family of aircraft which has contributed immensely to our market growth. The advantage of operating the new regional version of such a popular aircraft with proven operational flexibility and lowest cost per seat means unbeatable economics for our business and our customers.”
The A330-300R is optimized to seat up to 400 passengers on flights up to 5,000KM. Saudia will use the type to boost capacity on several of its high-demand domestic and regional routes.
Saudi Arabian already operates twelve A330-300s.
