Austin became the latest on Sunday 7 August with the introduction of thrice-weekly (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays) A320 service. The 1,213-kilometre route is not served by any other carrier.

Juliana Ramirez, Ancillaries Manager of Volaris, said: “We are extremely excited to open this new route which will connect two of the most important cities of both countries. This flight will open the doors to many tourists, family and friends who want to travel with low fares and a personalised flight experience.” Austin Mayor Steve Adler added: “This announcement that Volaris will provide non-stop service from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico to Austin is good news. The home of mariachi is now connected to the Live Music Capital of the World.”

Austin’s only other year-round non-stop service to Mexico is offered by United Airlines which operates twice-weekly with 737-900s to Cancún according to OAG Schedules Analyser. In addition Southwest Airlines operates to Cancún and San Jose del Cabo on a seasonal basis.
