Long-haul, low-cost carrier AirAsia X has planned it’s long-awaited return to Europe. After an absence of four years, the carrier has now filed to operate daily flights to Istanbul and Barcelona.
AirAsia X has opted to go for Spain and Turkey instead of London and Paris which it operated flights to in 2012.
These routes were dropped after turning out to be unprofitable due to choice of aircraft and fierce competition.
AirAsia X has chosen to fly between Barcelona and Kuala Lumpur with a stop in Istanbul. It is not clear if they have secured fifth-freedom right between Turkey and Spain.
