RwandAir takes delivery of its first widebody aircraft 

On Wednesday, September 28, RwandAir has taken delivery of its first widebody aircraft: an A330-200, registration 9XR-WN (cn 1741).

This is the first of the two A330-200s the Rwandan national carrier has on order from Airbus, the other one, to be registered 9XR-WP (cn 1759) is scheduled to be delivered in November.

As part of its plan to leverage Kigali’s ideal positioning for a Central African hub, RwandAir plans to use its widebody fleet to develop new longhaul services to China (via India) and Western Europe which will then feed into its growing sub-Saharan African regional network.

The state-owned airline currently has a fleet composed of two B737-700s, two B737-800s, two CRJ-900s and two Dash 8-400s.
