Azul receives its first A320neo

Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras has become the third Brazilian operator of the A320neo, following the arrival of PR-YRA (cn 7186) at Belo Horizonte on Thursday, October 20. Other Brazilian operators include LATAM Airlines Brasil and Avianca Brasil.

The Brazilian LCC has yet to confirm an exact date for the type’s entry into service but previous reports point to a debut to happen on November 25. Initially, the A320neo will be used on daily return flights from Fortaleza to Campinas, with Recife to follow.

Azul has thirty-five A320neos on order from Airbus, with AerCap to provide twenty and GECAS a further eight. All of them are to be equipped with CFM International LEAP-1A engines.
