British Airways is the latest airline to announce flights to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport in Florida. It plans to launch new nonstop flights between its smaller London-Gatwick hub and FLL starting July 6, 2017.
The new route will operate three times weekly using the Boeing 777-200ER, and will increase to four during the peak season.
The airline will compete head-on with Norwegian Air Shuttle which also operates between the city pair.
“This announcement has reiterated FLL’s status as an attractive, low-cost airport with a diverse portfolio of air service options,” said Mark Gale, CEO/director of aviation, forBroward County Aviation Department, the airport’s operator. “British Airways’ decision to land at FLL illustrates the strength of this region and the incredible opportunities Broward County offers for tourism and business travelers.”
