TUIfly to return to Hamburg next year

TUIfly (Germany) will be returning to Hamburg Fuhlsbüttel next year, an airline spokesman has confirmed to airliners.de.

Starting from May 2017, the leisure operator will base a single B737-800 out of the Hanseatic gateway which will be used for flights to Fuerteventura, Las Palmas, Heraklion, Jerez de la Frontera, Kos, Menorca, Palma Son Sant Joan, Rhodes and Tenerife Surl

The airline pulled out of Hamburg in spring this year citing increasing competition from LCCs such as Germanwings, Eurowings, easyJet and Ryanair.

This return comes as a part of the airline’s effort to strengthen its position in the Northern Germany market.
