Lufthansa Receives Its First A350

As mentioned in recent posts, Lufthansa has finally taken delivery of its first A350-900 (D-AIXA, CN 74) on Dec. 19 following a ceremony held at Toulouse Blagnac airport.

The first of all 25 aircraft will be delivered from Airbus to Lufthansa between 2016 and 2023, this first aircraft is scheduled for its first commercial service on February 10, 2017, on flights between Munich and Delhi Int’l.

Lufthansa’s A350’s will be powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-84 engines which produce 84,000 lbs. of thrust each. According to the engine manufacturer, the new engine will cut fuel consumption by ten percent, saving airlines around the world up to US $2.9 million per year, per aircraft in fuel costs alone.

This aircraft is scheduled to be ferried to Munich later this week to complete cabin furnishing.
