Eurowings announces Munich base

Lufthansa Group subsidiary, Eurowings, has announced that it will open a Munich base during 2017. The airline will base 4 aircraft at the airport starting in March. 32 destinations will initially be served:

  • The Netherlands: Amsterdam
  • France: Basle/Mulhouse/Freiburg, Paris CDG, Nice and Bastia
  • Switzerland: Geneva
  • UK: Edinburgh, London Stansted, Glasgow
  • Italy: Rome Fiumicino, Naples, Catania, Lamezia Terme, Olbia, Palermo, Cagliari, Brindisi
  • Greece: Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Kavala, Mykonos, Rhodes, Kos and Kerkyra
  • Croatia: Pula, Zadar and Dubrovnik
  • Portugal: Faro and Porto
  • Spain: Palma Son Sant Joan and Ibiza

There is a possibility for longhaul flights out of the airport in 2018, Lufthansa said. Currently the airline has bases at Dusseldorf and Hamburg airports, along with large presence at Hanover, Cologne/Bonn and Stuttgart.
