In late 2015, India’s Jet Airways announced an order for 75 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, with options for an additional 50 aircraft. This order is valued at around $8 Billion at list prices according to Boeing. The carrier has now outlined the delivery of the first few aircraft.
These new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft are slated to arrive during the second quarter of 2018. Jet Airway’s acting CEO Amit Agarwal has said that the aircraft will be delivered in June of next year. These new aircraft will supplement the carrier’s existing fleet of Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft which consists of two -700s, sixty -800s, and six -900s.
In the meantime, the carrier will acquire up to eight leased aircraft which are primarily Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft. All of these new aircraft will be used to replace the existing ATR72 turboprops and will allow the carrier to grow in the domestic business market.
