Airbus to make the A380 more appealing to customers with upgrades – including winglets

The world’s largest passenger jet, the Airbus A380, will now be getting a refreshing update as an attempt to increase the number of sales of the slow-selling jet. An A380 has already been equipped with the new winglet type, presumably to be presented at the Paris Air Show next week.

Similar to the sales of the 747-8i, the A380 has suffered sluggish sales when airlines are currently favoring twin-engine jets due to lower maintenance costs, lower fuel consumption and are easier to fill with passengers.

The European company hopes to sell the aircraft to more airlines by lowering the operating costs per seat by having up to 600 seats onboard the aircraft, after already having made moved like removing the grand staircase onboard the aircraft.

It is estimated that the winglets will improve fuel efficiency by 2 percent.
