Brussels Airlines to acquire Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium

The Belgium Government has given Brussels Airlines the go-ahead to purchase leisure carrier Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium (TCAB). The deal will see the country’s national carrier receive 2 aircraft, 160 staff members, and all of TCAB’s slots at Brussels Airport.

Singaporean carriers Scoot and Tigerair finalise merger deal

On the 25th of July, Singaporean carrier Tigerair merged into Singapore Airlines wholly owned low cost subsidiary Scoot. The merger, which was announced on the 4th of November 2016, is part of Scoot’s long-term growth strategy, to enable a more seamless travel experience.

Qatar Airways announces flights to Canberra flights for February 2018

Doha based carrier Qatar Airways has confirmed the launch of flights between Doha and Canberra via Sydney, starting in February 2018. The new route will be operated by the airline’s fleet of Boeing 777-300(ER) aircraft.

The new connection will allow passengers to travel from the Australian capital to the Middle East with a brief, 1 hour stop over at Sydney Airport.
