Qatar Airways announces flights to Canberra flights for February 2018

The new connection will allow passengers to travel from the Australian capital to the Middle East with a brief, 1 hour stop over at Sydney Airport.

The outbound flight (QR906) departs Doha at 8:10am, arriving in Sydney at 6.15am the next day, before landing in Canberra at 8.25am. The return journey (QR907) departs Canberra at 1.45pm, reaching Sydney around 2.45pm. The Doha bound flight then departs out of Sydney Airport at 3.55pm, arriving at 10.30pm.

The move comes after Qatar Airways hinted at opening a route to Canberra, in a statement revealing new destinations they hoped to fly to in 2017/2018.

The inaugural flight will depart Doha on the 12th of February, to arrive in Canberra on the 13th. The new service means that Qatar Airways will serve Sydney Airport twice daily direct from Doha, in addition to services from Doha to Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth.

Singapore Airlines is the only other carrier to provide international connections from Canberra, using the airport as a stopover on the Singapore to Wellington service.
